What the heck should I cook for dinner tonight

Dinner time! Just thinking about what ELSE to cook each night is exhausting, let alone the act of cooking itself! I’m a huge fan of eating; cooking on the other hand, that’s a different story all together…


Like many of you , I’m sure, we all try to juggle all sorts of things at the same time. I really Uhmmmmmmed and ahhhhhhd on whether I should share a real kitchen table prep area, or a pretty blogpost pic. Lucky for you, today you will get both! This is a typical day in the life of Urbantutu 😘. Did you notice the homework notebook, my cheat notes and my apple cider?

I watched a random cooking show a few years ago and absolutely loved how simple and fast this recipe was.
The ingredients:

1. Rice and rice cooker. Do your magic with this . Set and forget.
2. Coleslaw- you can cheat and buy this pre made (thank you Coles). Or you can cheat and add a couple of your favorite toppings to any existing pack! Now you can truly claim you made this 😉.

The rest of the ingredients!!
2x tablespoons of oil.

Fresh lemongrass and ginger – equal parts ( a small bowl full)

Garlic 2 cloves ( sneak a smooch to your man or woman now before you smell of this later )

Freshly chopped chilli ( as much as you think you can handle)

500 grams of Beef sirloin. Cut this into the thinnest strips possible

2 teaspoons of palm sugar

1 tablespoon of fish sauce

1 teaspoon of soy sauce

A nice bunch of Bok choy


Preparing and cooking. 
Get a wok! I love them. This dish cooks very fast so have all your measurements ready to throw in.

Heat the oil.

Throw in you garlic, ginger and lemongrass. Stir , stir, stir.

Add your meat. Stir.

Add the palm sugar, fish sauce and soy sauce.

Stir ( this is an arm workout I tell you!)

Finally add the chilli and the Bok choy, oh and STIRRER!


All up this should take you 5 minutes to cook. If you are there any longer, give up and order takeaway!!
Voila, it’s time to boogie and feel super proud of your efforts. Serve the meat over your rice. Serve the coleslaw and for a little extra add some yoghurt to the table. Yummo!!

  2. It’s definitely one of my daily dilemmas! I try to make a list at the beginning of the week with three or four meals that I’m planning to make during the week. I’ll add this recipe to next weeks list 🙂
